Steven Adler has finally found it. WithAdler, his new self-named band, the former Guns N’ Roses drummer has surrounded himself with a group of musicians who not only understand the delicate art of songwriting and composition but who have viselike grips on playing guitars in the modern world of rock. Singer/guitarist Jacob Bunton, guitaristLonny Paul and bassist Johnny Martin bring the fire on "The One That You Hated," the first song released from the upcoming album. The song has melody, drama, stinging guitar riffs and a stunning solo by Bunton. Produced by Jeff Pilson — who also played bass — the album [still untitled at this date] is due out sometime in the next several months.

Adler – “The One That You Hated”
Steven Adler is known for being the former drummer for Guns N’ Roses, as well as for his two stints on Celebrity Rehab. But now he hopes to be known for his brand new band, “Adler”. The band features Steven on drums, Johnny Martin on bass, former Lynam frontman Jacob Bunton on vocal duties, and finally guitarist Lonny Paul. The band has released the first single from their upcoming album, and boy is it a throwback to the 80s. The song features strong verses and a larger than life chorus, that is much more Reminiscent of Def Leppard than Guns N’ Roses. It’s extremely catchy as well, so don’t go in expecting to listen to it just once, as the constant stream of the song’s chorus in your head will practically force you to hit the play button at least a half a dozen more times. So, needless to say, it’s an expertly crafted tune, but what really makes it stand out is the fact that it is able to cater to more than one audience. And to top it all off, it’s able to it so effortlessly. See, it may be a throwback to the 80s, but it also has modern sensibilities, that the majority of the bands that are still around from that era are sorely lacking. It might have to do with the fact that Adler himself is the only band member who was making music back then, and the rest of the band is a lot younger, but whatever the case may be, it’s a match made in rock and roll heaven.

Rolling Stone Premiers "The One That You Hated" Video

In the video for "The One That You Hated," former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler takes on destructive relationships with his new band. "The lyrics are about two people that are no good for each other, but for whatever reason won't break up," says frontman Jacob Bunton. "Maybe it's the sex, maybe it's the convenience, maybe they're just scared to move on and start over, but a lot of people seem to be attracted to the people that they hate. Love and hate are intimately linked within the human brain."

Although it's an early Adler track, "Hated" was one of the last songs the band recorded for their album. "One night Slash was at the studio and we played him a couple of the songs," reveals Bunton. "When this song started playing, he was grinning ear to ear, so we knew either it's a kick-ass song or it's so bad we're making him laugh."

For Adler, the new project is an invigoration, a fresh breath of creativity. "I love the music we're creating!" he says. "I haven't been this excited about my band since the GN'R days." "Hated" is the first single off the band's debut album, Adler. No release date has been set.
