HOLLYWOOD, CA (May 6, 2013) – The former GnR drummer wants to address the recent personal information that has been publicly addressed and let you understand his choice, in his words.
“I picked up a bottle and drank. This occurred a few times and that is a few times too many. I knew that this had to permanently stop. That is the moment I picked up the phone, before it got out of hand, to get help. I had kicked hard drugs several years ago and now it is time to get rid of the urges of drinking alcohol. I am at a great facility and will stay here until I am comfortable to be home to work the program on my own. I love you all for understanding, being patient and supporting my decision. Like my peers, I will beat this too, so I can return to music and beat my drums!”

ReplyDeleteGood luck Steven. I actually just finished reading your book last night. I have been clean now for 10 years and 6 months. It is still a struggle, people don't actually know until they have been in it and through it. I have been blessed, The first time I tried to get clean i only put together 9 months, went back out for 2 years and destroyed even more than I thought I could. But this last time I quit drugs, drinking, and cigarettes all on the same day. It wasn't and still isn't at times easy. But it is possible. Thank you for the honesty and the music, and I really enjoyed the book. If anyone hasn't read it, pick up a copy. Good Luck brother. Stay strong.

Happy for you Steven! I loved seeing you clean and joyful banging the skins at the R & R Hall of Fame Awards. I have lost people, in my personal and professional life, tragically to the disease, and...I have seen people crawl out of the gutter, battered and bleeding, who found the path to recovery. You can do it! Break the odds! We got your back...

It felt so good seeing you good looking and so happy on all the pics published earlier. You went through hell and back. Most important is that you know for yourself, you don`t want to go through it again. That`s why you took that step, early !
ReplyDeleteYou ARE strong and you`ll make it ! Your fans are with you !
Love, Bee (Germany)

ReplyDeleteSteven:
ReplyDeleteI know you have the strength to succeed. It was an absolute blast to see and talk to you on the Kiss Kruise. Take your time, we'll always be here for you.
Great to hear your kicking the drinking habit Steven! I've been following you on Ceb.Rehab, listen a lot to your new CD and just the other day I finished reading your book. I'd love to see you live, so get well soon and come to Sweden and rock out! Keep busy, just like you said in the book, that's the way to go. You have my respect and support!
ReplyDeleteDude, you will never get clean as long as listen to that 12 step bullshit that they preach at most rehabs-- and that is what it is, a fucking religion. It is a cult that has a proven track record for failure!
ReplyDeleteScientific studies have shown that the relapse rate for 12 step programs is actually worse than if you just tried to quit on your own. The success rates are about %5-%7, while those that did it on their own, or chose a route other than 12 step was %10-%20.
So, actually participating in a 12 step program is almost a guarantee for failure!
Seek other means, e,g; Rational Recovery, and quit giving these charlatans your hard earned money.
Good luck, and peace be with you.
Solius
